How the procedure is performed

Sterile saline fills the bladder so its walls unfold and every surface can be inspected on the monitor. The specialist systematically examines the urethra, prostate region (in men), bladder neck, walls and the openings of both ureters. Any biopsy or minor treatment such as stone crushing is completed in the same session.
