How is abnormal uterine bleeding diagnosed?
Before recommending a D&C, your gynaecologist reviews your bleeding pattern, examines the pelvis and performs a transvaginal ultrasound to measure endometrial thickness and look for polyps, fibroids or retained tissue. Blood tests check haemoglobin, thyroid function, clotting and, where relevant, pregnancy hormone levels.

How the procedure is performed

Is a D&C painful?
